Everybody knows that fruit is filled with sugar, which is why some people wrongly assume that is is not a suitable food group for diabetics. However that couldn't be further from the truth, and one of the best types of fruit for people suffering from this disease is berries. In fact, not only are they very low in fat: they are also loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and, most importantly, fiber. The recommended amount of berries is about three quarters of a cup. For a healthy snack, mix them with plain Greek yogurt.
